Finding all of the Shiftmation Honkai Star Rail 4.2 Puzzle locations is mandatory if you want to clear the new Planarcadia map and collect every last Stellar Jade.

Version 4.2 drops six new Shiftmation puzzles spread across Seafeld City and the Seafeld TV Tower. Completing them all gives you 120 Stellar Jade. We know that 120 jade yields almost nothing in ten pulls, but for F2P players and light spenders staring at 50/50 misses, clearing maps is how we build our stash.

What is Shift? Quick Refresher

Before we get into the scene, here’s a quick overview for anyone who missed the Shiftmation mechanic when it first appeared in version 4.0.

Shiftmation (formally part of the “Floating Grease Origin Retrace” exploration system) is a 3D perspective rotating puzzle mechanic in Planarcadia. You rotate the entire world view in 90-degree slices to change the position of platforms, objects, and paths relative to each other.

“Paints” are 2D slices that you collect to lock objects in place, and windmills or pinwheels let you reset the number of rotations so you don’t run out of a puzzle midway through.

You start with a rotation count of 12. A ground dive (hold + jump) allows you to descend through platforms, which is very important in some of these puzzles. If you want to skip the animation and move faster, there’s also a Simplify Rotation button. Use it; it saves time.

Seafeld City and Seafeld TV Tower, both added in patch 4.2 (“So Laughed the Masses,” released late April 2026), are where these six new puzzles are located. They build directly on the same mechanics of previous Shiftmation puzzles in 4.0 and 4.1, so if you’ve already done that, you already know the basics.

All Shiftmation Puzzle Locations in HSR 4.2

There are exactly 6 Shiftmation puzzles in 4.2:

• 3 in Seafeld City
• 3 at the Seafeld TV Tower

There are no new Shiftmation puzzles in the rest of patch 4.2. Below are each location and their solutions.

Seafeld’s Shifting Town Puzzle

• Puzzle 1 — Near the Seafeld Station Space Anchor

Location: Head to the Seafeld Station Space Anchor and go straight to the end of the narrow road, then turn right. Shiftmation is near the wall just past the bridge.

Solution:

1. Turn right once.
2. Jump onto the lever, then jump onto the platform on the right.
3. Turn left three times.
4. Use the lever again and jump to the platform on the right.
5. Turn right twice.
6. Use the lever one last time, climb to the top, then use the pinwheel.
7. Jump to the left to claim the paint and finish.

• Puzzle 2 — Space Anchor Southeast of Seaside Avenue

Location: From the Seaside Avenue Space Anchor, head southeast. Take the stairs to the right, and you’ll see Shiftmation on a narrow path next to a traffic cone.

Solution:

1. Turn left once, then turn left to get the first paint.
2. Turn left again and head towards the mill.
3. Turn left once more, then right to pick up the next paint.
4. Turn right once and go to the pinwheel to reset it.
5. Turn left twice, then claim the final paint to finish.

• Puzzle 3 — Space Anchor of the Mayor’s Residence in the Northwest

Location: From the Anchor Hall of the Mayor’s Residence, turn left and go down the stairs. Shiftmation is near some Emoti figures sitting on a table near the cafe/street area.

Solution:

1. Use the platform on the left to reach the top level, then go right to get the first paint.
2. Go to the mill on the left and turn it to the left.
3. Jump to the top level.
4. Turn to the right twice, then claim the final paint until you’re done.

Seafeld TV Tower Shifting Puzzle

The TV Tower has three floors with one puzzle each. The three Space Anchors here are different, so fast travel makes this section easy to clear.

• Puzzle 1 — North Reception Hall Space Anchor

Location: From the Reception Hall Space Anchor, take the road to the right and enter the shop. Shiftmation is near the television inside.

Solution:

1. Jump onto the blue box on the left, then turn left once.
2. Jump to the right and grab the first paint.
3. Jump onto the blue box on the right side, then turn left once more.
4. Jump and pick up the final paint to finish.

• Puzzle 2 — Southwest’s Main Studio Stage Space Anchor

Location: From the Primary Studio Stage Space Anchor, head southwest past the broken smiley face and follow the path south. In the final room, you’ll see a Shiftmation near some film reels.

Solution:

1. Use the moving platform on the right to reach and grab the first paint.
2. Jump onto the platform, then turn left once.
3. Jump to the right and grab the last paint.
4. Turn left once more, then jump to the platform on the right to finish.

• Puzzle 3 — North Production Zone Corridor Space Anchor

Location: From the Production Zone Corridor Space Anchor, follow the path north. Shiftmation is in the server room.

Solution:

1. Turn left once, then jump onto the lever and use it.
2. Jump to the first paint and claim it.
3. Go back down to Imagenae, then turn left twice.
4. Jump to the right and grab the last paint.
5. Jump to the left to complete the puzzle.

120 Stellar Jade for all 6 puzzles. Not a huge haul, but every bit helps when it comes to saving up for the next banner, and completing them also adds to your Floating Grease Chronicles progress and overall Planarcadia exploration percentage.

Shiftmation Puzzle Mechanics & Exploration Tips

Reset before you need to. Don’t wait until you have 1-2 turns left to hit a windmill or windmill. Some puzzles have strict rotation requirements, and running out of sequences in the middle means resetting everything.

Paint locks slices, not just progress. When you claim a piece of paint, the 2D piece is fixed as a physical object that you can interact with. This changes what platforms and paths are accessible on subsequent rotations. This understanding is what differentiates players who brute force a puzzle from those who solve it cleanly on the first try.

Use Simplify Rotation. It cuts the animation entirely. At these 6 puzzles, there is no reason not to play them.

Land diving is your friend. The down + jump drop-through mechanic appears in some of these puzzles. If you get stuck trying to reach a lower platform, that’s most likely the path you’re on.

This is a one-time solution. Once you complete a Shiftmation puzzle, it is completed permanently. No replays for additional rewards. So if you’re trying to 100% your Planarcadia exploration, just get it done in one session as it won’t take long.

How This Compares to Previous Shiftmation Puzzles

The 4.2 puzzles are roughly on par, difficulty-wise, with the 4.1 additions at Pearluxe Tower and Lookout Cloud Station.

They are neither particularly difficult nor easy. If you complete it without guidance, you’ll likely do most of it yourself. If you’re stuck on version 4.0 or 4.1, this article has everything you need to get through version 4.2 cleanly.
